Attack on Titan Fan Titan-slaying Mikasa in Impressive Cosplay

A devoted fan shows off Mikasa Ackerman's deadly proficiency with the omni-directional maneuver gear in a battle-ready Attack on Titan cosplay.

A devoted fan showcased Mikasa Ackerman's legendary titan-slaying prowess with a grisly Attack on Titan cosplay.

Reddit user Majorshigo shared a photo of her bloodstained Mikasa cosplay, which exhibited the fan-favorite character's deadly skill with both her blades and omnidirectional maneuver gear. The costume itself is notably a recreation of Mikasa's appearance from the final season of the Attack on Titan anime, as evidenced by her shorter hair and the lack of a Survey Corps jacket. While Majorshigo spared no effort in making the cosplay as accurate to the show as possible, they did intentionally swap out Mikasa's boots for a pair of heels. The decision was explained in a comment that they did this to better portray Mikasa's height and to appear taller when standing alongside other Attack on Titan cosplayers.

Attack on Titan fans might also be interested in Majorshigo's other cosplays. Their previous work includes several costumes based on Mikasa's various designs from past seasons, along with photos showcasing how they built her omnidirectional maneuver gear with the use of a 3D printer. Majorshigo additionally cosplayed several other fan-favorite female characters from Attack on Titan, including Petra Ral, Historia Reiss and Hanji Zoë.

The Final Season of Attack on Titan

Based on Hajime Isayama's critically acclaimed manga series of the same name, Attack on Titan: The Final Season will adapt the final arc of the source material, which will cover all events from Eren Yaeger's declaration of war against the Global Alliance forces led by the nation of Marley up to the series' long-awaited conclusion. While Attack on Titan has yet to finish, viewers have already widely reviewed the show as one of the greatest anime of all time, with critics praising the series' emotional narrative and stellar animation. At the time of writing, the adaptation stands at the top of MyAnimeList's anime rankings, just above Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Despite the overwhelming love from the fanbase, the final season of Attack on Titan wasn't without issues. The show has been repeatedly criticized for its confusing release schedule, with some fans speculating that Season 4's animation studio, MAPPA, was intentionally prolonging production to capitalize on the show's popularity. Sound director Masafumi Mima has since apologized to fans for the repeated delays, with Mima further claiming the new post-COVID-19 restrictions had significantly slowed down development.

Attack on Titan is available to stream on Crunchyroll. The second half of Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 3 is scheduled for release sometime in fall 2023.
