Sukuna Just Revealed the True Power Behind Megumi’s Technique

Megumi Fushiguro was deemed a sorcerer with boundless potential by the Jujutsu Kaisen Society and his peers. He inherited the Zenin Clan's 10 Shadows, the strongest technique of the influential family. As such, Fushiguro's mentor, Gojo Satoru, has pushed him endlessly to achieve his potential, stating that his protégé's cursed technique could be just as powerful as his own Limitless and Six Eyes.

Megumi has only managed to tame seven of the ten Shikigami that assist the technique and was almost killed by the strongest of the shadows, so he remains pretty far from mastering his power. Before he could prove his own potential, however, the evil Sukuna began using Fushiguro as a vessel and appears to have tamed some of the technique's remaining Shikigami. This means that two of the remaining three shadows are in the power of whomever wields the technique. Unfortunately, this has only made the King of Curses more formidable.

Megumi Fushiguro's upbringing served him an overwhelming amount of trauma, and as a result, he struggled with feeling deserving of his technique and never truly chased the level of power he could have achieved. However, once Sukuna took over his body in a dramatic plot twist, the curse wasted no time in absorbing the overwhelming power of the 10 Shadows.

In his dramatic battle with the ancient sorcerer Yorozu, Sukuna put two new Shikigami to use -- one of which was the Piercing Ox, an incredible offensive shadow that's perfect for assault in battle. It can charge with immense strength and at high speed, but it's somewhat debuffed by only being able to run in a straight line. However, the further the Ox charges, the more damage the shadow inflicts.

This Shikigami is so strong that it sent Yorozu flying and broke the armor the sorcerer created with her technique. It's important to note that Yorozu is a Heian-era sorcerer, hailing from a time when they were canonically far stronger than they are now, and she is ranked as a special grade. The Piercing Ox proved able to contend with a special-grade Heian sorcerer, even successfully overpowering her. As such, this shadow is presumably one of the strongest in the 10 Shadows technique and would have been a significant asset in Megumi's past fights in Jujutsu Kaisen.

While the Piercing Ox is a powerful contender for the best of Jujutsu Kaisen's 10 Shadows, the Round Deer is even more impressive. This Shikigami uses Reverse Cursed Technique, which is most commonly seen as a healing or regenerative ability. It is very rare among sorcerers, so having a Shikigami worthy of using it is undeniably an advantage in high-stakes battles. For context, Gojo was only able to perfect the Reverse Cursed Technique when on the brink of death. The only other sorcerers known to use the technique are special grades Yuta Okkotsu and Yuki Tsukumo, and Jujutsu High's resident doctor Shoko Ieiri.

However, the Round Deer's abilities don't stop at healing the user. The positive energy the towering deer radiates is powerful enough to cause another sorcerer to lose control of physical objects strengthened by cursed energy. This is why Yorozu was significantly weakened after Sukuna summoned this Shikigami, as its reversed energy neutralized the cursed energy she used to create her metal armor.

Megumi Fushiguro has been in countless battles where Round Deer would have been a major asset and saved his life. For example, he was very nearly bested when fighting a special grade curse in the "Death Painting" arc and had to rely on his incomplete domain to defeat the curse. This Shikigami could have restored Fushiguro's health, making his domain even more powerful and further extenuating his potential. The sorcerer also nearly died fighting Toji Fushiguro in Shibuya, but Round Deer would have made Megumi a much more formidable opponent by healing him and negating the cursed energy of Toji's many weapons.

The 10 Shadows Technique has boundless potential, so much so that Sukuna took an interest in Megumi the moment they met. The King of Curses even went as far as devising a cunning plan and making an agreement with Itadori Yuji, all so he could swap vessels in the future and manipulate Fushiguro's technique. With Chapter 218, Jujutsu Kaisen fans can now see exactly why he went to such lengths to possess Megumi.
